HARTT, DON

Don will be teaching his Fancy Canes again and will do six one-day classes. The students can schedule as many days as they want, from 1 to 6 days. However, he strongly suggests you take at least three days. Out of the classes he's done so far, he has never had anyone complete the project in less than three days. Some of the patterns he installs on the sticks can be done in three days, but there are a lot of patterns that cannot be completed in only three days. Time required for completion is dependent upon the pattern the student chooses. If a student wants to schedule three or more days, the days do not have to be consecutive. Also, if someone signs up and pays for five days but completes their stick in 3 or 4, they can receive a refund for the remaining day(s) they do not need. You will learn how to put on a fancy pattern and how to carve and finish it. After this class you should be able to do your own fancy cane without help from anyone. Extra blanks will be available at a cost of $35 to $80. Tools required: carving knives, gouges, and a background tool which will be available from the instructor for $10. Milton will provide your roughout, base, paints, sealer and eyes. You will need to furnish power tools, dust collector and brushes (small liner, 1/8" filabert, two small flats, two small rounds (# 0, #2, and #00 is optional). Maximum of 10 students.

STANFIELD, LARRY

Larry Stanfield

Larry will be teaching one four-day class (but will be available if fifth day is needed) this Spring of an Eastern Bluebird. This bird is very beautiful and is simple, yet difficult to carve. Larry suggests you take the full four days to finish this carving. However, if you only want to carve one day, three days, or whatever meets your schedule, feel free to do so. This is a very colorful bird and should be one you will be proud of. The detailed drawing of this bird was done by the famous Richard Finch. You will need your power carving tools, dust collector, wood burner, and sharp knives.
39 - MON-TUE-WED-THU-(FRI) - EASTERN BLUEBIRD Cost $25.00 per day plus blank

STEWART, CAL

CAL STEWART. Cal will teach one four-day class this Spring of a Greenwing "Slick" Hunting Decoy. The blank will be mostly pre-formed. There will be some carving required and lots of sanding. There is no blending of paint and everything is done as "hard-line" painting. If students have any questions prior to the class, you can contact Cal via e-mail (caldstewart@yahoo.com) or cell phone (469-667-8658). Cal will furnish the blank, paint, and eyes.
